County Health Department Inspection
Early last year Maricopa County Environmental Services Health Division instituted a new inspection procedure impacting all food handling facilities including restaurants, resorts, food manufacturers and food distribution centers. A lot of the restaurants you and I eat at on a daily basis have received less than perfect scores on their inspections and are given a silver rating certificate or lower by the inspector. Our facility here on 31st Avenue is subject to those same rigorous inspections. Since the program was put in place we have been visited 7 times. I am proud to tell you that up through last weeks unannounced inspection we have scored a perfect 100% on every single visit. Ben Bradley, our Operations Manager, and our entire warehousing, transportation and food handling team, including the hundreds of volunteers who support our daily activities do an incredible job. They focus every day to insure the donated food we receive is handled and processed in the safest possible way to make certain the food we distribute into the community is top notch. Not an easy task when dealing with more than 32,000,000 pounds of food rescued and donated from a variety of sources. Way to go team!!!!
