Community Kitchen

Today we had the opportunity to introduce a long time St Mary's supporter to our Community Kitchen. The students, in their 8th week of the 14 week program, prepared an outstanding meal. The entire group enjoyed lunch while our guests asked questions and learned more about the curriculums and daily activities of the program. Cathy, Cari and Vinny do a great job in describing the program and the daily challenges. Imagine, on a daily basis, Vinny is faced with having to create a menu for the students to prepare based on donated food. He can't prepare the plan too far out because he is never sure what items are going to be available. Yet he still has to make sure the students are exposed to a variety of food items and preparation techniques so they are prepared to move into a foodservice kitchen at area resorts, restaurants, catering companies and hospitals upon graduation. The session today could not have gone any better. Our guests were very impressed with everything they saw. Those positive impressions will allow us to continue to grow our relationship and secure more and more support for the Community Kitchen.
