Letter Carriers Food Drive

Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon joined us today along with representatives from the National Association of Letter Carriers to kick of the annual letter carrier food drive scheduled for tomorrow, May 14th. Last year the food drive generated approximately 200,000 pounds of food for St Mary’s. We’re hoping for even bigger numbers in tomorrow’s results. This event and National Hunger Awareness Day on June 7th really help us gain some much-needed visibility during the summer months. Normally we get great exposure in November and December around the holidays, but we actually distribute as much food during the summer as we do during those months. Yet our donations in both food and financial support tend to soften up during the summer time. The Mayor has been a great supporter of the food bank and will be joining us again on June 7th from 11 AM to 1 PM.
