Cupcakes

Just a few minutes ago, I had a very special opportunity. I received a call from Kate Thoene, one of our employees, who was working in our service information office. A Mom, her son and daughter were in picking up an emergency food box, as well as information on other resources they could call for help. Kate overheard the young daughter telling her mother, "one more day till my birthday." Kate called me and asked if we could pull a special treat for them to use to celebrate the girl's 9th birthday. I found a dozen decorated cupcakes in the cooler and presented them to the family. The look of glee on the young girl's face was precious. With her toothless grin, she told me she planned to share them with everyone to help celebrate her birthday. It made my day.....imagine a package of cupcakes brightened this little girl's and her family's day.....the power of food and helping those in need is incredible.

It also was great to witness a staff person like Kate who recognized an opportunity to go above and beyond while serving one of our clients.
