National Hunger Awareness Day

National Hunger Awareness Day is right around the corner and our plans for the day are really shaping up. Early in the morning we will have 6 food distributions taking place at various locations in conjunction with our partner agencies and schools. That morning we will be distributing 2,400 emergency food boxes into our community. Then from 11 AM to 1 PM we have a program here at the food bank recognizing a number of our major food donors. Mayor Phil Gordon and Sheriff Joe Arpiao will join me as we accept some major food donations from food industry donors. This day is all about making sure folks in our area remember that hunger is a year round issue and we need as much support in the summer as we do around the holidays.
