Volunteer Resources

With our fiscal year ending June 30th, we are beginning to get final results in a many areas. One area which really has set the pace for us all year long is our Volunteer Resources department. Total volunteer hours for 2004/05 were 119,820 hours which exceeded last year by a whopping 17%. We had 31,835 individuals volunteer for the food bank which was up 22% over last year and 1,839 groups which was up 17%. Volunteers are truly the life blood our organization. We could not meet the growing demands of the community without the army of folks who support us. If we had to hire employees to fill the roles of volunteers, we would spend more than $2.2 million in salaries. That would mean we would distribute about 13 million pounds less food.
