Donor Story
When I got back to my office yesterday afternoon after a full day of meetings, I found a large envelope on my desk addressed to me with no return address. As I opened it up 5 $20 bills fell onto my desk with a typed note which in part read "I have looked at the web site of St Mary’s Food Bank. I believe that your cause is extremely worthly. I looked at all the different ways to donate. If possible, can you put $70 towards the community kitchen. Please put the remaining $30 towards anything that you feel would find helpful in aiding these people…….please accept my donation"
The note was not signed….so there is no way for us to say thank you to this individual. This is one of many anonymous donations we receive everyday that we can’t personally respond to….so I thought I would take the opportunity in my BLOG to do just that……. THANK YOU!!!!
We are so dependent on folks like these to be able to meet the needs of our community. 80% of our financial donations come from individuals….that means neighbors taking care of neighbors. It is very fulfilling for me to see the generosity of the community willing to step up and help those in need. Thanks for believing in St Mary’s and entrusting us with your donations. We take that stewardship responsibility very seriously.
