Weekend Backpack Distribution

On Friday June 16th I had the opportunity to join a number of food bank employees in a distribution of backpacks at the IG Homes Boys & Girls Club in Phoenix. What a thrill it was for approximately 120 children to receive a very simple backpack loaded with kid-friendly food items, juices, water, snacks and a couple of school supply items! The laughter and squeals of enjoyment from the kids was incredibly heartwarming! Being able to be a part of this type of activity truly brings home the value of our efforts at the food bank. I never fail to recognize that without the support of our community in helping with financial, food and volunteer donations, the 3500 weekend survival backpacks we put together could never have been accomplished! Thanks for giving me the opportunity to be a part of something so very special. Thank you Arizona!
