Emergency Response

Many may not be aware the food bank is regularly called upon to support the various emergency needs in the community in Arizona. For example, we were recently on-call to potentially aid in supplying food to shelters housing evacuees as a result of the recent fires in Northern Arizona. The Food Bank is also currently serving as a drinking water donation and storage center for the City of Phoenix. We will handle distribution of the donated water to various re-hydration centers being setup by the City of Phoenix to aid the homeless and others during the very extreme heat conditions we are currently experiencing. The ability of the food bank to respond to such requests is directly related to the facility we enjoy that has the physical capacity to deal with these kinds of emergency situations.
