Special Birthdays

About a year ago we were approached by John Wagner, his wife and children about the possibility of adding a special touch to our Emergency Food Box Program. The Wagner family wanted to put together a birthday bag to accompany the emergency food boxes distributed to families with children who were going to celebrate their birthday in the near future. The Wagner’s brought in their first delivery of bags containing an assortment of small toys, arts and crafts supplies and other special birthday goodies. They even made the bags gender specific, one for boys and one for girls. In May 2006 they passed the one-year anniversary mark of the beginnings of their birthday bags and to date, have brought us over 450 birthday bags! We can only imagine the many smiles their efforts have brought to children all across the valley!
